Torta de aceite de Vélez. Andalusian oil cake recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 c of sugar
  • 1 c of milk
  • 1 c of oil 
  • The shell of 1 lemon
  • 3 c of flour
  • 1/2 c of matalauva (anise seeds)
  • Half a sachet of baking powder
  • 12 raw almonds to decorate
Modus operandi
1. In a frying pan, heat the oil with the sell of lemon in a moderate heat. Remove the pan from the heat and the shell and add the matalauva. Leave the oil with the matalauva until it is chilled.
2. In electric mixer bowl mix all the ingredients except and the almonds. If the mixture is very thick, add more milk. I have added a half a cup of more milk.
3. Top with sugar and finally chopped almonds.
This torta de aceite recipe could make one big torta or about three little tortas.
4. Place the bowl in the oven to150C degrees about 45 minutes.
